Second wave art is a go! Get ready to vote on the next new chapter!
over 9 years ago – Thu, Jul 14, 2016 at 12:29:20 PM

Hi, everyone, Rose here. ^_^

You've carried us past $78,000, meaning this book's getting a whole bunch more art! Rich and Mike are really excited about adding new illustrations.

Up next, at $83,000, we're going to add another all-new chapter. Here are the candidates:

  • Ruins of Memory - Veronique d'Orleans, Christof, and Beckett travel to Tunis upon hearing tell of the fallen Brujah Antediluvian's resting place beneath a dam in the capital. Infernal cultists and agents of the True Black Hand greet the two with violence as they near the founder's location. Tying in to plot threads from V20 True Black Hand and one of Masquerade's oldest pieces of lore, the exploration of fallen Carthage reveals more about the Clans of Caine than the Brujah would ever wish to know.
  • The Drowning of Rasputin - Caine. Saulot. Baba Yaga. Rasputin. Certain vampires generate their own myths and legends, and for a time the "Kindred" Rasputin was a suspected root of easily a hundred plots across Europe. And then one night he promptly disappeared along with his cult and any evidence of his existence. Beckett and Vykos seek the truth behind the legend, discovering his trail leads to South America and the Drowned Legacies spoken of by Baron Samedi.
  • A Brief History of Beckett - Amidst the chaos of the Jyhad, Beckett resolves to solve the one mystery he’s avoided facing: that of his own siring, and the circumstances. After all, if so many others are pawns of their antecedents, how else can he rule on his own objectivity?

As with the previous stretch goals, the runners-up from this round will return later on. We'll be polling at the Onyx Path web site... watch this space for details.

Thanks for your support, and I'll see you soon with a new preview!

Lucita's back, plus a preview of Beckett in DC! Next up: Second wave art!
over 9 years ago – Tue, Jul 12, 2016 at 12:48:18 PM

Hi, Rose here. ^_^

We've blown past $75,000, meaning we're able to add a new chapter featuring Lucita and the Black Hand! And we're closing in on $78,000, which will enable us to add a second wave of full-color art to the book, just as glorious as what you can already see on the project page.

Thanks for your support, and please enjoy the following preview!

Matthew here! Thanks all for your praise for the chapters so far. Your enjoyment of the South American teasers in The Dead Walk have influenced one of the potential stretch goals arrayed before you.

In 2nd Edition Vampire, D.C. by Night stood as one of the most popular city sourcebooks. Several of the characters who appeared within it went on to appear in the Clan Novels, and the city itself was key to the Camarilla-Sabbat war of the late '90s. The book introduced a host of morally vacant and ethically grey supporting characters and antagonists, along with a vampire who sought the country's nuclear launch codes so he could finally break free from the Jyhad.

In Beckett's Jyhad Diary, Chapter 3 sees Beckett journeying to D.C. at the behest of Theo Bell, Camarilla Archon and scourge of the Sabbat. D.C. is still a Sabbat stronghold, as per the Clan Novels, but certain political movers and shakers wish to see the city become an independent bastion in the heart of America. Channeling John Carpenter's Escape from New York, the Camarilla exiles Theo Bell to D.C. and forbids his return unless he finds proof of an ancient foe's return. Meanwhile, war ghouls and Sabbat packs rove the streets and metro under the contested Archbishopric of Sascha Vykos.

New preview: The Dead Walk!
over 9 years ago – Sat, Jul 09, 2016 at 03:07:57 PM

Hi, Rose here, with Matthew and Neall's latest preview. :)

---

Well met everyone, it's Matthew again! We've passed the halfway point and are incredibly close to unlocking Hands of Darkness. Please remember to share this Kickstarter on Facebook, tweet about it, and tell your gaming groups!

You backers have been voting for the next preview chapter (and if you've not been doing so, feel free to join in in the Kickstarter comments) and in a hard fought battle between The Dead Walk and Shadows Coalesce, Baron Samedi won out. So here is The Dead Walk, a chapter in which Beckett travels to Haiti to find out more about the elusive Samedi bloodline - one of the game's most popular, since their introduction - and discovers more rotten secrets of the Jyhad.

Accompanying Beckett is Talley the Hound, whose introduction occurs in an earlier chapter. Talley is one of my favourite characters from the novels, who, rare among his peers, was never given stats or a write-up in any of the Masquerade sourcebooks. He does however appear on a VTES card, and when I play with a rare Lasombra / Ventrue antitribu combo deck, he often makes an appearance. Those basic levels of Auspex and Dominate combined with his superior Obtenebration and Potence make for a good mixture, especially if you have some Master: Auspex cards floating around...

...but I could ramble on about VTES all day. On with the preview! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1IG7JIZNOUNEFz0af5ZZV3dJAI3QFHrb2ua5EhdI9Ecs/pub

New chapter achieved: "The Way of Three Eyes!"
over 9 years ago – Wed, Jul 06, 2016 at 04:45:09 PM

Hi, Rose here. ^_^ I hope you enjoyed the last preview. Please let Matthew know what you want to see next in the comments!

But I'm actually here to talk about the stretch goal we just achieved!

At $70,000, you voted to add "The Way of Three Eyes," a brand new chapter in which Beckett tracks down the remaining elders of the Salubri Bloodline. I know this is a chapter that co-developer Neall is particularly excited to do.

And that leaves us with just one of the three options left! So, at $75,000, we'll create "Hands of Darkness:"

Following a brutal attack on a Sabbat gathering, Lucita enlists Beckett in discovering the culprit, who appears to be one of the Black Hand – the militant arm of the Sabbat. A name is whispered among the survivors – “Dastur Anosh”, the first Seraph of the Hand. But what the Gangrel discovers goes deeper, into the Antediluvian roots of the Lost Tribe and the mystic spiritualism underpinning the very philosophy of the Sword of Caine.

This promises to be pretty epic stuff! Thanks for your support!

New preview: The Madness of Jerusalem
over 9 years ago – Wed, Jul 06, 2016 at 08:28:00 AM

Hi, folks. Rose here with a new preview from Matthew and Neall.

---

Matthew here again! Thanks to all of you who have been sharing and talking about this Kickstarter. The more of you who do that, the more backers we get. The more backers we get, the more chapters we unlock!

The chapter backers voted for over the past couple of days in the Kickstarter comments was one I wrote. The Madness of Jerusalem goes all the way back to the events of Vampire: The Dark Ages' Fountains of Bright Crimson, Jerusalem by Night, and Veil of Night, and explores Malkavian history, holdout Salubri, the plans of the True Black Hand, and even suspected Baali activity.

It's one of my favourite self-written chapters, as it's so full of content.

Let us know what you think in the Kickstarter comments!
