Hey, Rose here. ^_^ We've got just 20 hours to go, and we're racing towards one of our most exciting stretch goals! Here's Matthew, with a few more words.
Less than one day to go and not too far from our much hoped for Omega Chapter! Remember to share this Kickstarter everywhere and tell everyone about all the stretch goals we have achieved. I'm truly pleased with how well we have done to date, and grateful to all of you for making this Kickstarter as successful as it has been. It's down to you, the fans, that this book is going to get the treatment it deserves, and I can honestly say I'm humbled. You've all been so supportive over this project. Thank you. It's been a massive undertaking to have this as my first development job, next to "Ne'er-do-well" Neall Raemonn Price, and every moment has been worth it.
I thought I'd deliver an update different to my previous ones. The chapter previews will come later, but this one is about content you may have already read. You'll have noticed that every diary entry has a location assigned to it. For the most part, these are genuine buildings, streets, or landmarks. Each location in this book has been selected specifically. I've ensured as developer that they are appropriate, by viewing them on Google Maps and street view, and reviewing whatever information I can find about them.
For instance, the Calleva Arms in Silchester is a real pub. Why is it Beckett's regular haunt? Perhaps because Thorns - the fictional village in which the infamous Convention took place - was supposed to be near Silchester's actual location. Beckett has a sense of irony, of course, and enjoys having a drink of vitae at the site where the Jyhad took a perilous step towards the founding of the Sects.
A backer sent me a photo of the Hard Times Café, in which Beckett encounters Theo Bell during Chapter Three. Here's the photo he took.
I guess I'm highlighting this level of detail as an example of the easter eggs laced within this book. I fully hope and expect that readers will discover seeds and references we've planted for months, and maybe years to come. This book is layered. My hope is the more you read it, and use it at your table, the better it becomes.
If you happen to stop by at any of the locations mentioned in Beckett's Jyhad Diary, please take a photo and add it to my Gentleman Gamer Facebook page. I'd love to chronicle the journey Vampire's enthusiastic fanbase makes in retracing Beckett's footsteps.
Thank you all again,
Matthew

(Rose again: I love it when we can get real places that aren't major landmarks into books. It adds some real depth and grounding to the World of Darkness.)
