New preview: The Hag!
over 9 years ago – Sun, Jul 03, 2016 at 08:47:39 AM

Hi, Rose here. Matthew just sent up a preview near and dear to my heart: the tale of Baba Yaga.

---

The votes are in, and the next chapter the backers have selected for preview is The Hag! In this chapter, Beckett makes a journey to Russia to trace rumours of Baba Yaga, her demise, and possible survival.

Baba Yaga was one of the longest running and most potent antagonists in the World of Darkness. She had a prominent place in the Nosferatu metaplot, and even appeared across other gamelines. A terror to the Kindred of Russia, and no friend to members of her own Clan - Baba Yaga was said to be her sire's greatest shame, or alternately, his greatest weapon.

Please post in the Kickstarter comments your thoughts on the chapter, and please share this Kickstarter! The more stretch goals we hit, the more chapters we add to this already sizeable tome!

First new chapter achieved! And another one just around the corner!
over 9 years ago – Fri, Jul 01, 2016 at 08:27:09 AM

Hi, Rose here. ^_^

You picked "On Mysteries Eschatological" as our first new chapter, and having passed $60,000, you've enabled us to create it!

Up next, at $70,000, we're offering you another choice, between the remaining two proposed chapters. They are:

The Way of Three Eyes – Just after his discovery of the remnants of House Goratrix, Beckett follows up on a lead to the heart of Transylvania, tracking down the last few elders of the Salubri bloodline. But the intrepid archaeologist finds more than he bargained for in the shadow of Hunedoara Castle and the collection of Inconnu it hosts.

Hands of Darkness – Following a brutal attack on a Sabbat gathering, Lucita enlists Beckett in discovering the culprit, who appears to be one of the Black Hand – the militant arm of the Sabbat. A name is whispered among the survivors – “Dastur Anosh”, the first Seraph of the Hand. But what the Gangrel discovers goes deeper, into the Antediluvian roots of the Lost Tribe and the mystic spiritualism underpinning the very philosophy of the Sword of Caine.

The new poll will be up soon.

Thank you for making this possible. These backer-driven choices are always particularly fun to be part of. :)

New preview: London Calling!
over 9 years ago – Thu, Jun 30, 2016 at 04:55:49 PM

Hi, Rose here. ^_^ Matthew's sent up another fresh preview!

---

Matthew Dawkins here again!

Due to a successful referendum, London Calling is the next chapter to receive the preview treatment for all you backers. Makes you proud to be British...

One of the most popular vampires in the game's history is Mithras. Present in Dark Ages and Masquerade as a power-player, this Fourth Generation Ventrue claims to be a god and extends his grasp to cover the entirety of the British Isles, making his seat in London. Despite his immense power, Mithras fell to a concerted Lupine attack, and in his weakened state succumbed to diablerie by one fledgling Assamite antitribu.

Talk of the Methuselah seizing control over his diablerist's body and mind is too great a mystery for Beckett to ignore. He travels to London to seek an audience with the Sabbat youth who would seize power in England's capital, and finds a truly complex character.

T-shirt achieved! Up next: new chapter!
over 9 years ago – Wed, Jun 29, 2016 at 01:44:10 PM

Hi, Rose here! ^_^

Having passed $45,000, we'll be creating the limited-run Beckett's Jyhad Diary t-shirt. This shirt will be available at-cost on our RedBubble store for a limited time, after which the design will be replaced.

And up next, at $60,000, we'll be adding a whole new chapter! You can vote here to help pick which one, with the others becoming later stretch goals.

Don't forget to stop by the main comments thread to weigh in on which chapter we'll preview next. Thanks for your support!

Preview: "Schism"
over 9 years ago – Tue, Jun 28, 2016 at 07:45:44 AM

Hi, Rose here. ^_^ Developers Matthew and Neall have sent over a new preview based on your requests in the comments.

---

Hi all, this is Matthew Dawkins, one of the Beckett's Jyhad Diary developers. Thank you all for taking this journey with us, and for your involvement in the Kickstarter so far!

The backers have been voting in the Kickstarter comments for the next chapter they want to see, and have decided on Chapter 6 - Schism. We'll do votes for other chapters as the Kickstarter goes on, but for now, have an introduction to the chapter and a link to the raw text.

In the Gehenna novel, a faction of the Assamites reaches out to the Camarilla to seek protection from the Withering. In our book, they do the same, but to escape the machinations of ur-Shulgi, a truly terrifying vampire. He is potentially more powerful than any other Fourth Generation Cainite. As ur-Shulgi seeks to expunge any rebel elements from within his Clan, the Assamites splinter; some remaining at ur-Shulgi's side, others fleeing to the Sabbat, or Camarilla.

Following the events in London, Beckett seeks to discover more of the burgeoning Assamite - Camarilla accord. In Chapter 6 our archaeologist chronicles a fateful meeting between the leader of the Assamite Viziers - Tegyrius - and influential members, including Princes and Justicars, of the Camarilla.

Read on, and please post your comments! Be sure to let your fellow Vampire players and Storytellers know that they can get a say in which chapters become visible next!
